Social Clubs and More
Gwent Association for the Blind (GAB) operates a variety of Clubs for visually impaired people, located throughout the 5 Authorities of Monmouthshire, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Newport and Torfaen. These Clubs are managed by local committees supported by sighted volunteers and GAB. These Clubs are generally Social Clubs where members are collected from and returned to their homes. They enjoy a variety of activities such as day trips to Weston Super Mare, ten pin bowling and strawberry teas. Various artists and speakers entertain the members, including School choirs singing carols, comedians and piano players. In addition, members will run their own quizzes, play bingo, have a raffle or just have a chat and a cup of tea. Alternatively, the club may be formed for a specific activity such as Rambling or the Art Club.
