Sight Support Fair - Technology and Information Day - Thursday 8th October 10 am - 3 pm at Cwmbran Stadium
This is an annual event in the GAB calendar and one not to be missed for people who are blind or partially sighted and for professionals supporting and advising visually impaired people.
This event gives people who are blind or partially sighted or those who work with them a wonderful opportunity to find out at first hand about the latest technology, products and support services available. We have commercial companies exhibiting latest technological aids and equipment including computers and new software available. All the big names in the field of sight loss technology will be there for example :
- Sight & Sound
- Optima Low Vision
- Optelec
- Enhanced Vision
There is huge increase in the portability of magnification equipment which gets smaller and cleverer every year. For people with low vision this is quite important and more and more people can access information whether for education, business or education.
There will also be companies there who can provide daily living aids to enhance the lives of blind and partially sighted people to improve their lives and remain as independent as possible.
We shall have voluntary organizations who help and support blind and partially sighted people with particular eye conditions.
Beside the huge exhibition we have invited speakers to come and talk about :
- Eccentric Viewing
- Diabetic Retinopathy
The GAB Technology & Information Day is a wonderfully opportunity for anyone with sight loss or works in the field of visual impairment to come along and see what is available under one roof, to look and compare aids and equipment before making a decision to buy or order something. No matter what field professionals are working in they need to know about latest developments in products and services so that the people they look after can be supported effectively. This is the place to see what is available and update your professional knowledge.
Paul Murphy, the Member of Parliament for Torfaen has very kindly agreed to officially open the event and Lynne Neagle, AM will also be attending.
