Fundraising

At Gwent Association for the Blind we need to raise £150,000 every year in order to provide continued support to all our visually impaired members. We raise this money through donations, collections and a variety of money-raising events, but are always on the look out for new ideas.
We are always looking for ideas to help raise money in order to continue our work. If you think you might like to organise an event with friends, neighbours or work colleagues, then please contact us. We can support you by providing advice, posters and collection boxes. For further information please contact us on : 01495 763650 or visit the Contact us page.
Some of the things we do at GAB to generate funds
Collection Boxes
If you have time and feel you can raise some money by organising a particular event we would really value if you can contact us as we can provide you with a collection box. Also, if you have a business or know any local businesses e.g. your local pub landlord why not ask if they can let you leave the GAB Collection Box on the counter where the public comes in.
Donations to our stall
For those of you local to Pontypool, if you have unwanted items of good quality clothing in nearly new condition, or other items - and let's face it we all have some unused gifts from years gone by! - please think about letting us have them for our bric-a-brac stand in the Resource Centre. (Sorry, but for health and safety reasons we can't take electrical items).
Individual Donations
If you would like to make a regular donation to Gwent Association for the Blind, whether monthly, quarterly or annually, you can download a standing order form by clicking this link. Once complete, the form should be returned to Gwent Association for the Blind.
If you are a UK resident and taxpayer, please remember that if you give through Gift Aid, it means that for every £1 you donate, Gwent Association for the Blind receives £1.28, at no extra cost to you. All you need to do is print our Gift Aid declaration form which you can download here and then send it back to us at the address on the form. We can then reclaim the tax that you have already paid on any donations you send us.
Legacies
A legacy is a gift left in a will, and is a practical way for someone to continue to support Gwent Association for the Blind after their death. The legacy might be a specific sum of money, object or piece of property, or the residual estate (what is left over after family, friends and other organisations have received specified legacies, and debts have been cleared.)
If you think you may like to include Gwent Association for the Blind in your will, contact your solicitor and ask that Gwent Association for the Blind be included in the list of bequests in your will. This is our official name as recognised by the Charities Commission and our Registered Charity number is : 214215
We would just like to remind our friends and members that we are not part of any national charities such as RNIB or Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. We are a local charity looking after the needs of local people, helping the 3,200 registered blind and partially sighted people in Gwent.
MissionFish
MissionFish helps charities to raise money on eBay. It enables eBay sellers to give some or all of their sale proceeds to their favourite charity, and we are a registered charity on their site. More information can be found on their website.
